Nasabihan ka na ba ng “Ang bait mo naman!” Welcome back to our series “Fruit of the Spirit.” Today, let’s take a look at what kindness looks like.

Sa halip, maging mabait kayo at maawain; magpatawad kayo sa isa’t isa tulad ng pagpapatawad sa inyo ng Diyos dahil kay Cristo.

Mga Taga-Efeso 4:32

Kapag ang kabaitan ay hindi sinuklian ng kahit isang simpleng thank you, parang nakaka-off ba? Naranasan na ba ninyo ‘yun? You went out of the way just to show kindness and then dedma lang ‘yung person na nakinabang sa kabutihan ninyo. Hindi man lang nag-thank you.

Many times, selfless kindness will not be reciprocated at all. Ito ‘yung type of kindness na palaging pipiliin ang kabutihan para sa kapakanan ng iba. It is an act of kindness that is rooted in Jesus’ kindness and compassion. But the world has different versions of kindness. For some people, kindness is tolerance; for others, kindness is giving favor in exchange for something in return. And perhaps, many believe that kindness is just being nice to everyone.

Pero ano ba talaga ang kindness na itinuro ni Jesus?

Kindness in its purest form is based on love. It seeks to do the right thing for others even when it’s hard. It begins with an intentional thought to do good things out of God’s love, and it prospers through an active demonstration of grace and mercy.

Ang hirap panindigan ang maging kind! Isn’t this our reality? We love to receive kindness, but sometimes, we find it hard to be kind, especially in the most difficult situations.

But because of Jesus’ kindness to us, He teaches us and enables us to be kind. Marami man tayong pinagdaanang hirap sa buhay, kung masusi nating susuriin, naglagay si Lord ng mga taong gumawa ng kabaitan sa atin. Sa maliit man o malaking paraan, ang kabaitang iyon ay nagbibigay sa atin ng lakas at pag-asa.

Jesus’ kindness is boundless. We will never run out of it. Kapag mahirap maging mabait, palagi natin piliing alalahanin na ang Diyos ay hindi nagsasawang maging mabait sa atin.
