A couple of years ago, the word “booster” was only commonly used for children’s vaccines. Or for booster seats para sa small kids na sasakay sa kotse. Pero iba na ngayon. Halos araw-araw nating naririnig ang salitang iyan sa news dahil kailangan tayong bakunahan laban sa COVID-19.

Pero alam ba ninyo na ayon kay Mr. Google, isa sa mga kahulugan ng booster ay “a source of help or encouragement?” Who comes to your mind whenever you need to be encouraged?

For some people it could be their BFF, or their spouse, or maybe a mentor, a discipler. There’s nothing wrong with running to them kapag down na down ka. Lahat naman tayo nangangailangan ng someone to talk to lalo na kung nalulungkot o nahihirapan. Pero huwag nating kalimutan na ang ultimate source of help and encouragement natin ay walang iba kundi si Jesus. When no one else is around or when no other solution can be found, si Jesus ang laging nandiyan. Kaya Siya ang unang-una nating kausapin! Yes, He may gently poke you in the arm just like how the frontliners do kapag nagbabakuna sila. But a poke from our God just might be what we actually need. God could be nudging us and reminding us na, “Anak, nandito ako.” Just like how a booster shot strengthens our immune system against certain viruses, God strengthens us too and gives us the energy and confidence to combat any problems.
