Happy Resurrection Sunday! On this important day, let’s reflect on the reality of Christ’s resurrection.

If Jesus did not rise from the dead, our faith is meaningless, our salvation, pointless, and eternal life is no longer true (1 Corinthians 15).

Christians celebrate the resurrection all around the globe in different ways. In Ethiopia, they hold a ceremony called Fasika (which means Easter). This includes a 55-day fast from meat and animal products culminating into Easter through a grand celebration with the churches and communities. Dito naman sa Pilipinas, it is celebrated from Palm Sunday until Easter Sunday. Different activities such as Pabasa and other programs and celebrations are done during Sunday to remember the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

But more than the flashy celebrations, our lives must reflect the reality of Christ’s

resurrection. Because of what Jesus Christ has done, we now have a different view and

way of life. According to Colossians 3:1, dapat ay ituon na natin ang mga isip natin

sa mga bagay na nasa langit. Paano nga ba natin iyon gagawin?

First we need to cleanse our hearts from the things that displease God. This includes immorality, greed, deceit, and lying. These are the sins that Christ died for and we should no longer live for (Colossians 3:5-9). Second, we need to put on our new self by learning the teachings and the character of Christ. This includes goodness, humility, gentleness, and love. And lastly, our lives must please the Lord whether in word or in deed (Colossians 3:17, 23).

The resurrection of Jesus must not only be celebrated, but it must be reflected and demonstrated in the way we live. May we always live the resurrected life founded in the life and works of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Thank you for joining us on our series this Holy Week. We hope your understanding of the sufferings, death, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ has deepened and your faith in Him is strengthened.
