Madaling-araw pa’y bumangon na si Jesus at nagpunta sa isang lugar kung saan maaari siyang manalanging mag-isa.

Marcos 1:35

Enjoy ang mag-asawang sina Jojo at Cecile tuwing may dinner date sila. But each one of them also has their own “me” time — a time when they do something enjoyable by themselves. For Jojo, his “me” time is playing his favorite video games. On the other hand, Cecile always looks forward to spending time at a spa for a facial and a massage.

May “me” time ka rin ba? Anong gusto mong ginagawa? When Jesus was here on Earth, it looks like ang favorite “me” time Niya was spending time with His Father through prayer. He would go up on a mountain early in the morning by Himself to pray privately habang tulog pa ang karamihan (Mark 1:35; Matthew 14:23; Mark 6:46–47). For Jesus, talking with His Father in heaven was a priority. Sa John 17, we can read about how Jesus specifically prayed for His followers. But it would be interesting na mapakinggan kung ano pa ang kanilang pinag-usapan!

If Jesus loved to spend time with God, His Father, and the Father enjoyed hearing from Him, hindi kaya gusto ng Diyos na “may” time rin tayo para sa Kanya? Just spending quiet moments with God, thinking about His goodness, thanking Him for His blessings, reflecting on His Word — the Bible — and praying for our needs and that of others? Pag “may” time tayo nang sarilinan kasama ang Diyos, we can find rest for our souls. In His presence, we can find unspeakable joy and receive direction. Sino ang aayaw sa ganyang klaseng “me” time with the Lord?

LET’S PRAY

Dear God, thank You for reminding me to spend precious, quiet moments with You. During this time, I bring all my concerns to You. Refresh me and guide me, Lord, on what to do.

APPLICATION

Make it a habit to spend time with God regularly. During such times, read and reflect on a few Bible verses and take note of what God is trying to tell you through these verses. Pray for guidance and obedience to follow what God wants you to do.
