These challenges, pains, and afflictions we face everyday try to put us down, ruin our lives and take out the joy in our hearts, and if we fail to deal with them properly, these trials will overcome us.
James 1:2-4 (NIV) gives us a perspective on how to face our problems: “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
One of the results of trials and testing is perseverance. Perseverance or “Hupomone” in original Greek portrayed someone “who steadfastly and unflinchingly bearing up a heavy load without resignation.” Imagine a man in the gym lifting a heavy barbell over his shoulders repeatedly until he gets tired. He does this to be strong and develop his muscles. In the same manner, problems, trials, and suffering, if dealt with properly, can strengthen and develop our spiritual muscles.
In times of trials, we need to rely on and deepen our trust in God because He has the power to transform seemingly bad situations into good ones. God is always there to help us, direct us, and bring out the good in every situation. Patuloy tayong tumawag at magtiwala sa Kanya.
LET’S PRAY
Continue to guide us, empower us and help us see Your divine purpose in every problem that comes our way.
APPLICATION
Are your burdens too heavy for you? It’s not for you to carry alone. Give them to Jesus.
