“I am doing this no longer for myself but for the thousands of children who were abandoned.” Iyan ang sinabi ni Senator Grace Poe nang i-file niya noong 2015 ang Senate Bill 2892, an Act Strengthening the System of Birth Registration of Children in Need of Special Protection (CNSP).

Alam ni Senator Poe ang hirap na maaaring maranasan ng mga inabandona ng kanilang magulang dahil siya mismo ay iniwan at napulot sa isang simbahan sa Iloilo. Naging isyu ito nang muntik na siyang mapatalsik mula sa Senado dahil siya umano ay hindi natural-born Filipino. But in the end, it was confirmed that she is, indeed, a natural-born Filipino.

Malaking tulong ang legislation na ito to protect the foundlings or abandoned children. Kung hindi kasi marerehistro ang mga abandoned children, mas lalo silang magiging vulnerable at disadvantaged; hindi sila maisasama ng gobyerno sa mga priority program on health, nutrition, education, and protection.

Whether we are a foundling or not, we are guaranteed protection from the One who made us — our ultimate Parent, God Himself. God’s Word says that anyone who comes to God through His Son Jesus Christ and receives the Spirit of God becomes a child of God (John 1:12; Romans 8:15–16). At dahil Siya ang ating Ama sa langit, He acknowledges that He created us, that we are His responsibility — He will help us, protect us, and save us. He will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).
