Sinabi ni Ana, “Kung natatandaan ninyo, ako po ang babaing nakita ninyong nakatayo rito noon at nanalangin kay Yahweh. Hiniling ko sa kanya na ako’y pagkalooban ng anak at binigyan nga niya ako. Kaya naman po inihahandog ko siya kay Yahweh upang maglingkod sa kanya habang buhay.” Pagkatapos nito, sinamba nila si Yahweh.

1 Samuel 1:26–28

Barren and not blessed — these are the cruel labels thrown at women like Hannah. Her longing for a child went unanswered for a long time, shaping her identity and leaving her desperate. Malaking bahagi kasi noon ang role ng kababaihan bilang magulang. But amidst her pain, Hannah found strength in God as she drew closer and cried out to Him in prayer (1 Samuel 1:10).

Tulad ni Hannah, naranasan mo na rin bang tumawag sa Panginoon dahil bigat na bigat ka na sa problema? We can dig deeper into her story and learn three things about the power of a praying mother:

God hears you – Kahit puno ng pag-ibig mula sa kanyang asawang si Elkanah, hindi pa rin natumbasan nito ang kanyang longing for a child. Our desperate situation can lead us either to God or to regretful actions. But the story of Hannah reminds us that we should go to God first because He is willing to rescue us.

God cares about you – Hannah poured her heart to God. Are you having a hard time being vulnerable to Him? Know that when you kneel down in prayer, He bends to listen. He is close to the broken-hearted and rescues them.

God answers – Hannah did not immediately receive the answer to her prayer. But with persistence, she continued to trust, and eventually she received the answers to her prayer according to God’s timing. From being barren, her identity became that of a child of God and a mother to Samuel.

Your life can be transformed when you pray because God hears you, He cares about you, and He answers you.
