Juan 4:11-14

Have you been feeling a little bit more thirsty since summer is here? Drinking water is a necessity because it plays a big role in keeping us healthy. Nowadays, getting water is a lot easier compared with how they did it in the Bible times, just like in the story told in today’s passage. There’s actually more to discover in the story of the Samaritan woman who came to the well for  water.

But first, let’s take a look at Lovely. She asked God at the start of the year to give her a word or words that could inspire her for the rest of the year. She believed God answered her with the words, “the well is waiting.” She wrote the sentence down and asked God for its meaning. There’s a backstory as to why she asked in the first place. The previous year, she felt so dry in her faith, relationships, dreams, and purpose in life. Feeling emotionally exhausted, she found herself crying and looking for answers. That’s why she asked God for spiritual water that could refresh her parched spirit. She wanted to have a fresh encounter with God and to start again. At that moment, she felt God really saying to her, “I am here waiting.”

In the story of the Samaritan woman looking for water in John 4, she made an effort to draw water from the well. But little did she know that on that day, she would not just have water that she could drink for a couple of days, but that she would have a life-changing encounter with Jesus, her unlimited source of satisfaction. She longed for the true  source of her purpose and meaning in life and found it. Jesus had been waiting patiently for her at the well and finally met her.
