What’s the Tea?
For many of us, a piece of gossip whets our appetites. Nakaka-excite kasing makarinig ng mga tila pang-insider information tungkol sa isang tao or organization that you will normally not hear in everyday conversations. Puwedeng gawing spicy or to sprinkle some lies to make it juicy.
Pero ang hindi alam ng marami, ang tsismis ay parang high-grade poison that can kill our own soul. The effects are deadly. Una, sinisira nito ang purpose ng ating bibig, which is to bless other people. When we spread damaging and unfounded rumors, we curse people with lies and unintentionally stain their reputation. Pangalawa, it makes us feel judgmental about the subjects of gossip. At ang worst effect ng tsismis sa atin ay it affects our own relationship with God. Because gossip is built on half-truths and whole lies, it makes us a liar when we spread and entertain rumors about others. And the truth of the matter is, God hates lying lips.
So how do we avoid gossip — spreading or listening to it? We can also actively stop conversations that are leading to gossip in a respectful manner. But the most important thing is that we ask God to change our hearts para hindi na tayo mag-crave sa tsismis.
God is a truth teller. He wants us to also only tell the truth, and listen to the truth.
LET’S PRAY
Lord Jesus, help me to stay away from gossip. Give me a heart that loves the truth. Amen.
APPLICATION
