Ang taong baluktot ang isipan ay naghahasik ng kaguluhan, at sinisira naman ng tsismis ang magandang samahan.

Mga Kawikaan 16:28

Have you ever spent time with a friend thinking you’re just catching up but ended up talking about someone else? Naku-curious ka rin ba kapag nakakarinig ng something personal about other people’s lives and find yourself craving to know more about it?

Gossip is enticing but it is bad news. Mukha lang itong harmless but it can destroy lives. At dahil fast-paced na ang technology ngayon, in just one click, puwedeng mag-viral ang tsismis tungkol sa buhay ng ibang tao. You may not know it pero nakakagawa ka ng kasalanan by sharing or even reading gossip online.

Gossip shows the condition of our hearts. Nire-reveal ng tsismis ang nakatagong envy, jealousy, pride, selfishness, and insecurity as we revel in talking about other people. At hindi ito gusto ng Diyos. God hates gossip just as much as He hates murder, and He will judge us when we do this. He said in Matthew 12:36 (CSB): “I tell you that on the day of judgment people will have to account for every careless word they speak …”

Instead of spreading negative things about others, God wants us to speak kind and encouraging words. He wants us to live in harmony with other people. Ang gusto ng Diyos ay mabuhay tayo nang may pagmamahal sa puso. Kaya instead of hurting other people with gossip, let us bless them by sharing good things about them instead.

LET’S PRAY

Lord, forgive me for every careless word I have spoken that has hurt other people. Punuin po Ninyo ang puso ko ng presensya Ninyo so that what would come out of my mouth are words of blessing for other people. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

APPLICATION

Think of one friend or family member na gusto mong maka-catch up. Instead of spending time with each other talking about other people’s lives, try sharing the Good News with them instead.
