Are you a stylish person, laging up to date sa latest fashion trends? Our last part of the series “The Right Focus” points us in the right direction. Sino nga ba ang dapat nating maging model?

Kaya nga, dahil kayo’y hinirang ng Diyos, minamahal niya at pinili para sa kanya, dapat kayong maging mahabagin, mabait, mapagpakumbabá, mahinahon, at mapagtiis.

Mga Taga-Colosas 3:12

Have you ever tried fitting new clothes in a mall or boutique? Usually you pick three to four items at a time, para hindi sayang ang pagpila mo sa fitting room. Then you try on each piece of clothing to see kung ano ang babagay sa iyo. Whatever feels comfortable and looks good on you, this is what you usually buy. If hindi kasya ang damit or it doesn’t look flattering, iiwan mo na lang ito sa sales person or ibabalik sa rack na pinagkuhaan mo.

In Colossians 3, Paul gave specific instructions to the Colossians on what to put to death and what to put on instead. If verse 5 lists the things we as followers of Christ need to turn our backs on, verse 12 highlights the traits we need to practice naman. Kasama rito ang pagkakaroon ng compassionate heart, patience, humility, at iba pang values that are pleasing to God. In essence, we’re taking off our old clothes and putting on new ones, ‘yung bagay sa atin as children of God.

But what if we feel na hindi bagay sa atin ang new self na ito? If there are models for clothes, meron din tayong Model who can show us the right way to live. Jesus exhibited all the good values na nakalista sa verse 12 during His time here on earth. And we, as His followers, can learn to do the same if we look to Him for guidance.

Tulad ng pagsusuot natin ng mga damit na bagay sa atin, may we put on love and other values that show we are renewed creations in Jesus.
