Dahil sa pananampalataya sa Diyos, si Rahab, ang babaing may maruming pamumuhay, ay hindi napahamak na kasama ng mga ayaw pasakop sa Diyos, sapagkat malugod niyang pinatuloy ang mga espiyang Israelita.

Imagine na naimbitahan ka sa awards night to honor all the great men and women na malaki ang kontribusyon sa Christianity throughout history. Nakita mo si Billy Graham, na worldwide ang naging impluwensiya. Andun din si Corrie ten Boom, who helped hide hundreds of Jews during the Holocaust. And then, nakita mo ang kapitbahay mong nabuhay dati sa pagbebenta ng aliw, si Candy. Ha? Bakit siya nakasama?

Parang ganito ang pagkakasama ni Rahab, a prostitute, sa Hall of Faith in Hebrews 11. Nabanggit siya kasama nina Moses, Noah, David, at marami pang Old Testament figures.

But who was Rahab? She helped hide the two spies from Israel when they arrived in Jericho. Although she was a Canaanite, she heard about what the God of Israel haddone. Sinabi niya, “I know that the Lord has given you the land, and that the fear of you has fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land melt away before you. For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt…” (Joshua 2:9–10a, ESV). She asked the men that she and her family be spared once they attacked Jericho.

Rahab, at first, only had a small faith in a big God. She believed in the power of the God she heard about. In the end, she played a crucial role in the history of Israel. In fact, kasama siya, as the mother of Boaz, sa family tree ni Jesus. Her act of obedience and faith earned her a spot in the Hall of Faith and God’s heart. Her story proves na walang hindi puwedeng baguhin at gamitin ang Diyos.
