Gift of Presence, Not Presents
Sa halip, mag-impok kayo ng kayamanan sa langit; doo’y walang naninirang insekto at kalawang, at walang nakakapasok na magnanakaw. Sapagkat kung saan naroroon ang iyong kayamanan, naroroon din ang iyong puso.”

Christmas season na! Ramdam mo na rin ba ang pressure dala ng gastusin sa parties, reunions, at gift-giving? Kahit tight ang budget, puwede pa rin tayong mag-celebrate at mag-enjoy.
Let’s take this time to pause and reflect on what truly matters during this season.
Truth 1: Celebrating Christmas does not hinge on having a hefty budget.
Hindi sa magarbong regalo makakakuha o makakapagbigay ng joy. Madalas pa nga ay nadi-distract tayo at nagseself-pity sa tuwing nakikita natin ang ebidensiya ng ating financial constraints. The lack of a big Christmas budget can instead serve as a reminder of the important things that money cannot buy: the warmth of family, the joy of giving, and the unconditional love of Christ.
Truth 2: God’s presence is more than enough.
Knowing that the presence of God is enough reason to be joyful, which can teach us how to be content in life. Nababalik sa tamang perspective ang ating puso — that the treasure is Jesus, not the material things we receive during Christmas.
Truth 3: Giving helps correct our wrong mindset.
Perhaps this year, gustong baguhin ni God ang ating mindset para maging priority natin ang pag-share ng blessings sa iba, lalo na sa less fortunate. Binabago Niya ang ating selfish desires so we can learn to become more selfless, compassionate, and generous. This act of giving emphasizes the true spirit of Christmas, and it opens up an opportunity for us to share the gift of God — the Good News about Jesus Christ!
Embrace these truths and fill your home with Christ’s love, faith, and blessings. Let us put away the distractions, connect with our family this season, and help one another to draw nearer to God.

Dear Lord, patawarin Ninyo po kami kung naging distracted kami sa busyness of the Christmas season and nagseself-pity kami dahil sa problema sa budget. May the tough times so many of us are experiencing point us back to You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
APPLICATION
Take some time as a family to reflect on the blessings in your life, big or small. Express gratitude for the simple joys of the season. Discuss how you can celebrate meaningfully even with a tight budget. Brainstorm creative and inexpensive ways to show each other love and appreciation.
