If you are still young at heart, maaaring naaalala mo pa na tuwing malapit na ang Undas o Araw ng mga Patay, maraming palabas sa TV tungkol sa supernatural. Isa marahil sa pinakasikat at inaabangan ay ang mga real-life stories about ghosts, monsters, and demon possession. Pero totoo ba ito? At para sa  followers ni Jesus, do we have to fear being possessed by the devil?

Every instance of demon possession recorded in the Bible involves people who are not yet followers of Jesus (Mark 1:23–27; Mark 5:1–20; Luke 8:26–39). This is also true in the Book of Acts, which records the history of the early church. Also, the Word of God teaches that a true follower of Jesus will not be possessed by demons dahil una, our identity and citizenship are changed when we surrender our lives to Christ. We become citizens of heaven (Philippians 3:20) and children of God (John 1:12). Ikalawa, ang Holy Spirit ay nananahan na sa ating puso (1 Corinthians 6:19; Romans 8:9). This means that no other spirit can “possess” followers of Jesus because God is the one who owns them.

This does not mean, however, that we Christians are immune to demonic influences and oppression. Demons may tempt us to sin and even put a Christian in bondage tulad ng addiction. Therefore, we must guard our minds and hearts. We should be careful about the things we listen to or ideas we entertain (2 Corinthians 10:3–5). Our lives must also be surrendered to God so that the devil will not have a foothold in our lives (Ephesians 4:26–32).  

Si Lord ay makapangyarihan sa lahat. Walang kahit na sinong demonyo ang kayang magmay-ari o umangkin sa mga totoong tagasunod ni Cristo.
