Juan 8:1011

Mahilig ka ba sa ceramic pots or vases? Maganda ang mga ito pero kapag nabasag, hindi na talaga magagamit. In Japan, artists don’t throw away broken ceramic vessels. They apply Kintsugi, a Japanese art form that involves repairing broken wares with precious metals like gold or silver.

Kintsugi artists put back the broken pieces together using gold, which highlights the unique fragments, giving the piece a new look.  Restoration is long, but the final product is a beautiful masterpiece.

The adulterous woman in the book of John received condemnation and judgment from the people. In their eyes, her sin was unforgivable and she deserved to be stoned to death. But Jesus stepped in and addressed the crowd of sinners. He challenged them to look at themselves first before acting on their judgment.

The Bible does not mention what happened to the woman, but we hope her encounter with Jesus transformed her life. Anyone who experienced shame because of their sinful past but was made new again because of the love of Jesus can relate to this woman.

Can someone whose life is shattered by sin be made whole again? Yes, my friend. Jesus is the glue who can turn the disastrous fragments of your life into something beautiful. He is the only one who can restore and make you new again. Nothing is too hard for the Lord.

LET’S PRAY

Lord, I am a sinner and powerless to turn my life around. Forgive me and repair my heart. I want to start a new life with You as my Lord and Savior. Change me from the inside out. I love You, Lord. I pray all of this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

APPLICATION

In your journal, make two columns. On the left, name all your sins. Then, get a red marker or pen and cross out each one. In the right column, write FORGIVEN and FREE.  Every time you doubt Jesus’ forgiveness, look at the forgiven column and remember that you are.
