Kung wala ka namang physical ailment or condition that might explain these, chances are you might be experiencing chronic anxiety. Does the Bible have anything to say about how to deal with it? Today’s passage gives us a clue. Jesus said in Matthew 6:31–33 (ESV), “Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Jesus is aware that when we choose Him, we will have questions and doubts down the road.  He assures His followers that though we choose God over money, we will not get hungry, nor go naked, nor parched, because God will supply all our needs. Again, don’t miss His clear reminder:  Do not be anxious. Do not be troubled.

The kind of anxiety that Jesus warns us against is the anxiety that immobilizes. On the other hand, healthy anxiety brings us to our knees and prod us to plan and move us to action.  It’s OK to ask for material blessings but you don’t have to pursue these the way unbelievers do. Why? Because we have a heavenly Father who knows exactly what we need.
