Ano sa palagay mo ang utos na pinakamadalas banggitin ni Lord sa Bible?

Believe it or not, it’s not about going to church or about money. The most common command of God is this: “Fear not.” Very interesting, isn’t it? Hindi naman nakalagay sa Ten Commandments na do not fear, and it’s not as if you will be thrown out of the church because you are afraid of a cockroach or a spider!

I think God commands His people not to fear because it’s often fear that prevents us from obeying God and becoming the person He wants us to be. Because of fear, many of us don’t want to leave a wrong relationship, a wrong job, and even a wrong activity that we have come to love. Fear keeps us from walking by faith and trusting God completely.

There are several stories where fear could have stopped people from following God. First, there is Abraham. He was asked by God to leave his home to follow Him. Imagine the fear. He was also asked to surrender his son Isaac to the Lord. How scary that must have been. Peter the Apostle took a step of faith and conquered his fear when he walked on water. The Apostle Paul probably also had many things to fear. The fear of losing everything could have held him back from following the Lord Jesus. And in this age, where we are raised to be scared, following and trusting God is truly a step of faith.

If there’s something you are afraid of today — whether it’s a big decision, a new season, or letting go of something unhealthy like a wrong relationship — challenge yourself to take that step of faith. Have faith that God is already setting the path in front of you. Next time na kabahan ka, pause and remind yourself: “The Lord is with me, so I can do this.” Let faith be louder than your fear.
