At kayo, maging ang buhok ninyo’y bilang niyang lahat. Kaya, huwag kayong matakot; higit kayong mahalaga kaysa maraming maya.

Mateo 10:30–31

Moments like these can make us think na wala tayong worth. We start to experience self-pity, insecurity,  and self-doubt, feeling unseen by others.

Having younger and more energetic colleagues at work, who have fresher ideas, can make a more senior worker feel outdated na ang ideas niya. Being in a family of extroverts whose speech and actions exude confidence can make the lone introvert feel there’s no use for him or her trying to be seen or heard. A mom whose children have grown independent and have busy schedules feels left out, physically and emotionally.

Do any of these people describe you? Instead of moping around feeling sorry for yourself, remember that these thoughts are, first of all, lies from the enemy. ‘Yung pakiramdam mo na worthless ka? Galing sa kaaway ‘yan! Remember that God bought you with a price, remember that Jesus gave His life for you. The Lord even knows the number of hairs on your head. At alam Niya ang struggle mo to do better and be appreciated. He sees every tear and knows every heartache. And the last thing He wants is for you to forget that He loves and cares for you deeply, that you are in no way worthless!

LET’S PRAY

Dear God, it hurts to feel useless, unseen, and unheard. Help me to know my worth. Help me to realize that even when others do not appreciate me, You love me. And nothing can ever change that.

APPLICATION

Ask the Lord to remind you of who you really are — not how the world sees you, but how God does.
