Anong tawag mo sa araw na ito? However you call this day, we can rest in the finished work of Jesus on the cross, which we celebrate this week. Welcome to our Holy Week reflection.

Ngunit para sa akin, kay Yahweh ako mananalig. Hihintayin kong may pagtitiwala ang Diyos na magliligtas sa akin at ako’y kanyang diringgin.

Mikas 7:7

Isn’t it interesting that we use two names for today’s occasion, and parang opposite ang kanilang meanings? May nagsasabing pag Black Saturday, patay daw ang Diyos, kaya maraming magnanakaw. Others are filled with joyful anticipation, calling today a glorious Saturday! Which one are we? Are we a Black Saturday or a Sabado de Gloria type of person?

According to the Bible, nothing really happened after Jesus died on the cross. His body was locked in a heavily guarded tomb. The apostles were filled with fear because they didn’t know what was going to happen. But now we know better. We know that isang tulog na lang, after that Saturday, Jesus resurrected from the dead, breaking the curse of sin for all of us!

For us today, this day of waiting and rest is important, so let’s not waste it. ’Di ba nga, “Sabado” comes from the word “Sabbath,” a day of rest? Perhaps, today, we can stop and ask ourselves — are there parts of our souls that are still stuck on the thought of a Black Saturday? Are there things that we’ve considered dead? Have we gotten tired of praying and have lost faith in someone? Do we feel like we don’t have compassion toward others or have lost the sense of awe at the greatness of our God?

Continue to worship God with us as we hear about the resurrection of Jesus tomorrow, here in Tanglaw.

LET’S PRAY

Heavenly Father, You see the pain in my brother and sister’s hearts. You know the failures and the many disappointments that may have stopped them from believing that better things may come. I pray for Your Light to break through our souls and grant us new eyes to see Your goodness. Birth a new sense of expectancy and assure us that glorious things are coming, because You are coming. In fact, Your glory is here with us now! In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

APPLICATION

When we find ourselves waiting in dark places — worship. Turn on some Christian music and sing praises to Him. Our souls will be lifted as the glory of the Holy Spirit meets our own spirit in the intimate place of worship.
