Ang Golden Rule na itinuro ni Jesus sa atin ay “Do to others what you would have them do to you,” habang ang itinuro naman ni Confucius ay “Don’t do unto others what you don’t want them to do unto you.”

Here’s a short story of a person na sinunod ang Golden Rule ni Jesus.

For eight years Laya has worked in a company where she met a leader who also became her mentor and good friend. When she decided to resign, alam niyang malulungkot ang leader niya. For her, the hardest part of leaving was saying goodbye to her mentor who has helped her to become the person she is today. Puwede namang mag-submit na lang siya ng resignation letter, but she asked the Lord for wisdom and received Matthew 7:12.

Laya realized that she must do to her leader what she would like others to do to her. Kapag naging leader na rin siya, dalangin niya na ang mga taong nakasama niya ay magpapakita rin ng kabutihan at pagmamahal sa kanya at sa iba. Before she officially submitted her resignation letter, dumalaw siya sa bahay ng kanyang leader at doon siya nakipag-heart to heart talk.

Maybe for some hindi ito necessary na gawin lalo na‘t it was a work-related matter. Butfor Laya, she would rather do it the Lord’s way, which is always good.

Nag-umpisa sa DO statement si Jesus because He is teaching us to always do what is good for others. And we can best appreciate this rule if we’ll recognize that Jesus always initiates to do what is good for us.
