Ang mga bagay na panlangit ang isaisip ninyo, hindi ang mga bagay na panlupa.

Mga Taga-Colosas 3:2

Have you ever played a game of “Langit, Lupa”? Simple lang ang rules nito: Nasa “langit” ang isang player as long as he’s on an elevated place, like a chair, a box, or a log. Nasa “lupa” naman ang taya. Goal ng taya na manghabol ng ibang players to replace him. Puwede lang niyang tayain ang isang player kapag nasa “lupa” rin ito. At the start of every round, kakanta ang taya ng “Langit, lupa, impiyerno.” After the song, kailangang bumaba ng ibang players mula sa “langit” and quickly look for a new elevated place to step on. Kapag may player na nahabol at nahawakan, siya na ang magiging bagong taya sa next round.

Tulad ng player that will only remain safe kung nasa “langit” siya, we can only stay safe from temptation if we keep our eyes on the things of heaven. Like a player na bumababa sa “lupa,” we also become vulnerable na mataya, o matukso, if we keep looking at things that are of earth. After all, how are we supposed to see what God wants us to do if we’re not looking at Him, right?

Sabi sa Hebrews 12:2 (GNT), we should fix our eyes on Jesus, “on whom our faith depends from beginning to end.” If we focus on Jesus, our faith in Him will grow. And as our faith grows, it will be easier for us to turn our backs on things that are not aligned to what He wants for us.

Are you currently struggling with turning away from things that are of this earth? Eyes up, kaibigan. Focus on things that are above. Fix your eyes on Jesus. That’s the only way para hindi tayo mataya ng kalaban. That’s the only way to win in the game of life and gain our ultimate prize in heaven.
