The Apostle Paul knew this pain well. In 1 Corinthians 4:13, he admitted being treated as “the scum of the earth” and “the garbage of the world.” Yet his response was radical: “When we are slandered, we answer kindly.” Humility became his strength.

Pero humility doesn’t mean blind acceptance. Part of humility is honest self-reflection. Owning our part, no matter how small, frees our heart from pride.

Humility also involves forgiveness. When we forgive, we’re not saying their action was right. We’re declaring that anger will not control our hearts. Forgiveness releases us from bitterness and allows God’s grace to bring healing to the wounds caused by slander.

But we should also remember that showing humility doesn’t mean erasing boundaries. God never calls us to tolerate abuse. Puwede tayong maglagay ng healthy distance between us and the offending party. Puwede tayong maging kind yet firm, humble yet assertive. This balance honors God and protects our peace.

Living this way is not easy, but it is possible when we trust God’s justice. He sees, He knows, and He will vindicate us in His time. His grace brings healing to our hearts, restoring peace and strength. Our role is to respond with humility, anchored in truth, forgiveness, and wisdom.
