Do you ever think about what happens after Christians die? Will the experience be like being inside a box and then life suddenly gets “switched off”? Everything turns to black and you won’t see, hear, or feel anything anymore. “Not quite,” if you ask Don Piper.

This pastor was involved in a terrible car accident, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. According to him, for the next 90 minutes, nasa Heaven daw siya. There he felt peace, love, and joy, and he was surrounded by a brilliant, warm light. Nakakita siya ng matingkad na mga kulay, and described everything he experienced as “like a first-class buffet for the senses.” He also talked about hearing the most beautiful sounds, with non-stop music praising God.

Jesus talked about Heaven this way: para raw itong mansion. He said to the disciples, “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? (John 14:2, NIV).

Nakaka-excite, ‘di ba? When you are undergoing hardships here on earth, the thought of Heaven becomes sweeter. When all you do is cry, you can’t wait for the time when God will wipe away every tear from your eyes. Sa Heaven, There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain …” (Revelation 21:4, NIV).

But Heaven is not a place we can reach on our own. We can’t buy our way into it by giving money to church or by doing good works. Only Jesus can take us there. He said to one of the thieves crucified with Him, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43, NLT).

You can start imagining Heaven by first putting your faith in Jesus. He — the Son of God who died for our sins — is the only Way there.
