Judgmental ‘Yan!
Here some samples:
“Anong depressed? Arte lang yan!”
“Feeling banal, akala mo kung sino!”
The list of harsh statements tulad niyan can go on. Whether we admit it or not we are all guilty at some point sa pagiging judgmental.
In one of Jesus’ teachings, itinanong Niya sa mga tao, “Bakit mo pinapansin ang puwing sa mata ng iyong kapatid ngunit hindi mo pinapansin ang trosong nasa iyong mata?”
Sa statement na iyan, Jesus is challenging us na masusing pag-isipan ang ating mga iniisip laban sa ating kapwa. Kadalasan, we compare our lives to the lives of others. Mabilis tayo mag-comment as if we know better, at minsan pa nga nagbibigay na agad ng malisya kahit hindi pa naman alam ang backstory. At ang pinakamatindi, we are making others feel inferior because we feel that they made a poor choice.
Bagama’t hindi naman sinabi sa verse that we can’t call out sin, we are being encouraged to respond in humility and grace, and not in arrogance.
If you feel like you’ve been judged and maliciously accused of something, remember that Jesus’ grace is potent and active. He will vindicate and restore you. And He has so much grace for you and the person who cast judgment on you.
LET’S PRAY
Lord, thank You for Your love that never condemns. Whenever I feel judged, give me the grace to respond in humility. Restore me and the people who cast judgment on me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
APPLICATION
When tempted to judge, reflect on what Philippians 4:8 (NLT) says: “Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”
