Yesterday, we learned that God reveals Himself to us in a special way through His Son, Jesus Christ. Alamin naman natin ngayon how God speaks to us through our conscience. Welcome again to our series “How God Reveals Himself to Us.”

Kapag ang mga Hentil na hindi saklaw ng Kautusan ay gumagawa batay sa panuntunan nito ayon sa kanilang likas na pag-iisip, ito’y nagiging kautusan na para sa kanila. Ipinapakita ng kanilang mga gawa na nakasulat sa kanilang puso ang panuntunan ng Kautusan. Pinapatunayan din ito ng kanilang budhi, sapagkat kung minsan sila’y sinusumbatan nito; at kung minsan naman, sila’y ipinagtatanggol nito sa kanilang isipan.

Mga Taga-Roma 2:14–15

Imposibleng matakasan ang katotohanang may Diyos, dahil lahat ng tao ay may conscience, which involves both the heart and the mind. At sinabi nga ni Apostle Paul, “nakasulat sa kanilang puso ang panuntunan ng Kautusan.”

God has impressed His law on our hearts even before we have heard the Gospel. ’Di ba laging ibinubulong sa atin ng conscience natin na sa mundong ito’y may tama at may mali? And our conscience keeps nudging us na hanapin ang real source of the good and the right in this world. And, if we look hard enough, it will surely lead us to God. 

God created all human beings to be in an intimate relationship with Him. Every man and woman is meant to love and worship God. That’s why there’s an internal revelation sa conscience ng bawat tao na merong Diyos. And that’s why consciously or unconsciously, hinahanap natin ang Diyos. Sadly, many of us have looked for God in the wrong places. Worse, some have created their own objects of worship.

When Paul visited Athens during his missionary journey, na-bother ang spirit niya because the city was full of idols. Napansin niya ang isang altar with the words, “To a God who is not known” (Acts 17:23). Sa dami ng gods being worshiped in Athens, parang hindi pa rin matahimik ang conscience ng mga Athenian. Sinasabi kaya ng conscience nila na baka may diyos na hindi pa nila nakikilala? That’s why Paul grabbed the opportunity to tell them about the one true God who created heaven and earth. Sinabi niya sa kanila na kalooban Niya na “hanapin nila ang Diyos; baka sakaling sa kanilang paghahanap, siya ay matagpuan nila” (Mga Gawa 17:27).

Kaibigan, nase-sense mo ba that your conscience is bothering you? Stop and listen. It could be your heart telling you to look for God and find your rest in Him.
