Naalala n’yo ba ang kantang “Love on a Two-Way Street”? Don’t worry, hindi ako kakanta ngayon. But today’s devotion carries the same title. So simulan na natin.

Nasira ang relationship ni Charles with his daughter nang hindi niya ito pinayagang mag-travel around the world for a year pagkatapos grumaduate from high school.

We are all on this crazy cycle of love-hate family relationships and we don’t know how to stop! Pabata ng pabata ang mga pasaway na mga anak at mukhang pagod at kulang naman sa oras si Mommy at Daddy to be around to guide them. We have less meaningful moments together, kahit pa gutom na gutom tayo sa pagmamahal. As a result, we end up punishing each other with impossible expectations and impenetrable emotional walls.

Totoong we all need and want love. Pero ang pagbibigay ng pagmamahal ay parang isang two-way street — it goes both ways! Magulang man o anak, we should be committed to each other’s well-being, ang magbigay-halaga sa isa’t isa in good times and in bad times. We shouldn’t withhold love when strained moments come. Instead, let’s be intentional in making things right in our relationships — listening to advice, respecting one another rather than provoking one another, admitting our faults, and asking for forgiveness. That’s love!

LET’S PRAY

Panginoon, sorry for not understanding and embracing my responsibility as a member of our family. Turuan Mo ako how to give and receive love, knowing that I expect the same.

APPLICATION

Remember to ask God for His wisdom.
