Main Character Syndrome
They get to be the influencers. And hindi lang fame ang kasama sa package na ito. It also involves a way to earn a massive amount of income. From food vloggers to lifestyle influencers, being the main character seems to have all the ups and no downs at all.
But are we really called to be main characters in our own stories? Ito ba talaga ang dahilan kung bakit tayo nabubuhay? Ang totoo, masakit man marinig, it is a resounding NO. We are not the main character, even in our own story. Pero hindi ibig sabihin nito ay failure na tayo. In fact, it gives us greater hope in life.
What it means is that in the life of each and every person, the real main character is God. He created us for a unique purpose and gave us a unique identity. He even gave us gifts and talents that we can use not for clout, but for service. And He continually molds us with love.
Imagine this, even Jesus came not to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many. Hindi Niya inisip ang sarili Niya bilang isang main character, but as a servant to all. At dahil doon, God exalted Him. Ito rin ang calling or purpose natin: to be humble and not to think na mas mataas tayo sa iba. We can defer to others to meet their needs. Kapag ito ang naging lifestyle natin, God will honor and exalt us, wherever we are and whatever we do.
You do not have to be the main character to be significant. Just like the moon that shines when the sun reflects on it, you can shine when God’s love is seen through you.
LET’S PRAY
Lord Jesus, help me always remember that I am not the main character. Help me understand that I live to serve others just like You did for us. Amen.
APPLICATION
Today is the day when you can practice being a servant. Think of practical ways you can serve other people. Help them with a problem, treat them to a cup of coffee, or lend some money.
