Nang panahong iyon, umakyat si Jesus sa isang bundok at magdamag siyang nanalangin sa Diyos. Kinaumagahan, tinawag niya ang kanyang mga alagad, pumili siya sa kanila ng labindalawa, at sila’y tinawag niyang mga apostol. Sila ay sina Simon, na pinangalanan niyang Pedro, si Andres na kapatid nito, sina Santiago, Juan, Felipe, Bartolome, Mateo, Tomas, Santiagong anak ni Alfeo, si Simon na Makabayan, si Judas na anak ni Santiago, at si Judas Iscariote na naging taksil.

Lucas 6:12-16

Dumarami na ang bilang ng mga Army ― ang fans club ng sikat na grupong BTS because of their outstanding performance. Pinagsama-sama sa group na ito ang good-looking guys who are also good singers and dancers. It took a lot of time and different scenarios before Big Hit Entertainment finally launched this all-male K-pop group.

According to the Bible, Jesus also had to form a small group to be with Him while He was doing His ministry here on earth. They are known as the twelve disciples. Unlike the entertainment industry which scouted for good looks, talents, and abilities, Jesus chose His disciples despite having different backgrounds, personalities, and imperfections.

Madalas nating ilagay sa pedestal ang mga disciple because we think that since they were chosen by Jesus, for sure there must be something special about them. But they are also humans na nagkukulang at nagkakamali. Actually, nang hindi na nila kasama si Jesus, some of them returned to their previous line of work and life. It was not until Jesus showed Himself up again that He got them back on track. God actually chose the weak and the meek so that people will really know it is Him who’s working through them (1 Corinthians 1:27-28).

Kung hindi perfect ang twelve disciples, then good news ― kaya rin nating maging follower ni Jesus despite our imperfections. Tayo ang mga modern disciple. Yes, magkakamali tayo at may mga hindi agad maiintindihan, but it is His grace that will enable us to follow Him all the way.
