Dahil dito, itakwil na natin ang pagsisinungaling at tayong lahat ay magsabi ng totoo sa isa’t isa, sapagkat tayo’y bahagi ng iisang katawan.

I’m sure you’ve heard of the phrase, “white lies.” People refer to this as minor twisting of the truth that do not cause serious consequences. Halimbawa, sinabi mong you ate your baon in school, pero ang totoo ay pinamigay mo lang sa classmates mo. O kaya’y sinabi mo sa boss mo that you like her outfit, but the truth is you don’t. Walang malaking consequence at madaling malusutan, right?

However, there is such a thing as pathological lying. Ang kaibahan nito sa white lies is that the person committing it has already made lying a habit. And when we refer to something as a habit, it means na naging pattern na ito. Take Ged, for example. A college freshman who makes up stories about himself far from his reality. Pag may school projects, sinasabi niyang out of the country siya pero ang totoo ay nasa bahay lang siya. Nagpo-post din siya sa Instagram stories niya ng photos taken sa beach, complete with caption about him enjoying his vacation, pero ang totoo ay nakuha lang din niya ito sa internet.

What Ged is doing may be considered chronic lying. Whatever his reasons are, the fact remains that lying is not the will of God. It deceives others, divides people, and distances the liar and those he lies to from the truth.

Maliit man o malaki ang epekto ng ating pagsisinungaling, the Bible says in Proverbs 12:22, “that the Lord detests lying lips. But He delights in those who are trustworthy.” Sikapin nating maging totoo. Oo nga’t may mga pagkakataong easy way out if we just lie our way out of a situation. Pero tandaang tuwing niloloko natin ang iba, God is hurt because we are not doing His will.
