Bumangon si Jesus at iniutos sa hangin, “Tigil!” at sinabi sa alon, “Tumahimik ka!” Tumigil nga ang hangin at tumahimik ang lawa. Pagkatapos, sinabi niya sa mga alagad, “Bakit kayo natatakot? Hanggang ngayon ba’y wala pa rin kayong pananampalataya?”

Marcos 4:39–40

Have you ever obeyed God only to find yourself in a storm? You prayed, trusted God, and followed, yet things didn’t go well. Napatanong ka na ba ng, “Lord, akala ko ba kasama Kita?”

Ganyan ang nangyari sa mga disciple in Mark 4:35–41. Si Jesus mismo ang nagsabi sa kanila, “Let us go over to the other side” (v. 35, NIV). The disciples obeyed. They followed. Pero sa gitna ng lake, isang napakalakas na bagyo ang bumayo sa kanila. Ang bangkang sinasakyan nila’y hinampas ng malalaking alon at halos mapuno ito ng tubig, kaya naman takot na takot sila. Habang si Jesus, mahimbing na natutulog.

Being in the center of God’s will does not guarantee a life free from crisis and struggle. Sometimes, following Jesus leads you into storms, not away from them. But here’s the truth: You’re safer in a storm with Jesus than on the shore without Him.

Ano-ano ang matututunan natin sa kuwentong ito?

First, storms in our lives reveal who Jesus is. In the story, the disciples saw a side of Jesus they hadn’t known — His power over nature. Namangha sila na pati bagyo ay sumusunod sa Kanya! You know what? Your storms can be the stage for God’s power to be revealed in your life.  

Second, storms grow your faith. Faith isn’t proven in calm waters. It’s built in the winds, tested in the waves, and strengthened in the silence when it feels like Jesus is sleeping.

Have you ever felt like Jesus was “asleep” during your hard season? What does it look like to trust Jesus even when He seems silent? Remember this: you can be inside God’s will and still face trials. But you are never alone in the boat. Jesus is with you in every storm.
