Lagi ka bang pagod at nabubugnot? Let’s learn from our devotion today kung anong dapat gawin as we continue our series “Lessons from Elijah.”

Pagkatapos, nahiga siya at nakatulog. Ngunit dumating ang isang anghel, kinalabit siya nito at ang sabi, “Gising na at kumain ka!”

1 Mga Hari 19:5

The prophet Elijah just tasted a major victory of epic proportions. He put his heart, soul, and strength into fighting for God’s honor. But then, out of fear for his life following the enemy’s threat, he got depressed and wished to die. Under the shade of a tree, he laid down and fell asleep.

God, who was with Elijah at the top, also saw His prophet when he sunk too low. Did He chastise him, saying, “How could you be sad when I just rained down fire from heaven? Where is your faith?” No, He did not. Instead, God did the most practical thing. He sent an angel to feed His tired and hungry servant. Dinaig pa ni Elijah ang mayayamang may pa-room service na pagkain. Imagine, may gumising sa kanyang anghel na may mainit na tinapay at tubig para sa kanya. After eating, Elijah went back to sleep until he was awakened by the angel to eat and drink again. Pagkatapos ay nagkalakas siyang mulito travel to Horeb for forty days. His story proves that sometimes the most spiritual thing a person can do to recover from feeling down is to eat and sleep.

The world glorifies workaholics who do whatever it takes to reach their goals. Sadly, when these people reach the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, many of them realize that they have lost everything else. Ilang kuwento na ba ang narinig natin tungkol sa mega-achievers who suffered from poor health because of bad diet, lack of sleep, and stress? Hindi na na-enjoy ang pinaghirapan nila dahil nagkasakit sila.

Are you on the verge of falling into depression because of overwork? Do what Elijah did. Tell God how you really feel. And then pause, eat, and rest.

We hope you’ll join us again tomorrow for the last part of our series “Lessons from Elijah”.
