She doesn’t know what to do anymore. Her husband is out on a field work. Mag-isa niyang inaasikaso si baby habang nagta-trabaho bilang freelancer. She’s at her breaking point because of sleepless nights. Frustrated, she knelt and prayed to God. After that, kumatok ang kanyang mother-in-law and offered to help her. Nahihiya man siya dahil ayaw niyang maging abala, she accepted the offer. She was able to recharge after sleeping and realized that she was just tired after all.

Mothers are a gift from God. They are there for their families 24/7. They manage the finances and household chores and make sure that their family members are well taken care of. But there are times na nalilimutan nila ang salitang “pahinga.” Kung minsan din, nalilimutan nilang humingi ng tulong because they thought that they could do everything on their own. When mothers become self-reliant all the time, they put themselves at a risk of burnout. Why? Because mothers are humans, too. Napapagod at nalulungkot din sila.

When a mother kneels in prayer and lays every burden before the Lord, she will find rest in Him (Mateo 11:28–29). Prayer is an expression of dependence to God. It is through humility and trust in Him that super moms are born dahil palalakasin Niya tayo to face a new day with confidence.

To all the moms out there, your ‘me’ time is also an expression of your dependence to God. So, don’t be guilty. Give yourselves a break. God is in control.

LET’S PRAY

Dear Jesus, I pray for my mother and all the mothers out there who are in need of rest. Help me, as well, to be a blessing to them. Thank You, Lord.

APPLICATION

Mothers, you can engage in restful activities like exercising, reading books, and simply taking a nap. Fathers and children, you can give your wives/mothers a break by simply doing some of the household chores.
