Sa panahon ng kagipitan, doon natin nakikilala ang tunay na nagmamalasakit sa atin, ang tunay na nakikipagkapwa. Tunghayan natin iyan sa pagpapatuloy ng ating series na “What Does It Mean to Love My Neighbor?”

Ang bawat isa’y dapat magbigay ayon sa sariling pasya, maluwag sa loob at di napipilitan lamang, sapagkat iniibig ng Diyos ang kusang nagbibigay nang may kagalakan.

2 Mga Taga-Corinto 9:7

“Ate, si Mama nahihirapang huminga. Itatakbo ko na siya sa emergency room!” Ito ang narinig ni Therese nang tawagan siya ng kanyang kapatid. Kinabahan si Therese. Dali-dali siyang nagpaalam sa kanyang boss para pumunta sa ospital.

Habang nasa biyahe, nag-message agad si Therese sa kanyang mga kasama sa small group sa church. She asked for prayers for her mom who was on the way to the emergency room. Halos lahat naman ay sumagot ng, “Will pray for your mom.” Nag-pray din si Therese for peace and calmness of heart for her mother and sister.

Coronary artery disease ang diagnosis sa mother ni Therese. Sabi ng doctor kailangan nitong mag-change ng lifestyle, mag-diet, mag-take ng medications, and possibly undergo surgery. This will be a big blow to Therese’s finances since she is the breadwinner. Pero hopeful siya na malalampasan ito ng kanyang pamilya. Nang makalabas na ng ospital ang mother niya, nagbigay siya ng update sa mga taong nagdasal para sa kanilang pamilya.

Unknown to Therese, the members of her small group, friends, and officemates pitched in to help with the medical expenses. Days after her mom’s discharge, Therese was surprised to receive a message from her friends that they sent money to help with the finances. Laking gulat niya nang makita ang amount na pumasok sa kanyang bank account. Nag-send agad siya ng message sa mga ito para magpasalamat. Therese was a recipient of her friends’ generosity, and she believed the Lord used them to help her.

One way to show love to a neighbor is by giving financial help. The amount does not matter. What God sees is the condition of your heart to give, and when the intention is right, it pleases His heart.
