Nang ibinilanggo na si Juan, si Jesus ay nagpunta sa Galilea at ipinangaral doon ang Magandang Balitang mula sa Diyos. Sinabi niya, “Dumating na ang takdang panahon. Malapit nang maghari ang Diyos! Kaya magsisi na kayo’t talikuran ang inyong mga kasalanan. Paniwalaan na ninyo ang Magandang Balita!”

Marcos 1:14–15

What does the Bible say about the Good News? Hindi ‘yung nakasanayan lang o akala lang natin, kundi ‘yung sinabi mismo ni Jesus. Paano kung Siya ang tatanungin, “Ano ba ang mabuting balita?”

It’s a good thing that the New Testament authors themselves purposed to write exactly just that — the Gospel. Kagaya ng sabi sa Marcos 1:1, “Ito ang Magandang Balita tungkol kay Jesu-Cristo.” Ano nga ba ito? 

In Mark 1:14–15, Jesus has started preaching the Good News and the content of His message was this: “The kingdom of God has come near.” Ibig sabihin, ang mabuting balita ay tungkol sa paghahari ng Diyos na ngayon ay dumating na sa pamamagitan ni Jesus. At ang tamang response? Repent and believe this Good News. 

Without God’s Kingdom, there are many things that rule over us. There are evil spiritual forces. Andyan din ang ating problema bilang tao sa pagkakasala at consequences nito. Dahil diyan, nakakaranas tayo ng kasamaan sa mundo at, tayo rin mismo, ay nakakagawa ng kasalanan sa ibang tao. Kaya rin may kamatayan at paghuhusga. Overall, this is our problem as human beings.

But God knows our helpless situation, and because He loves us, He launched a rescue and restoration project. And the Bible says that there is a promised King who will do the saving! Ang mabuting balita ay dumating si Jesus para tuparin ang pangako ng Diyos. Si Jesus mismo ang Hari! He has the authority to rule the world and power to save us.

The Good News is that Jesus is the King of kings who is powerful, just, merciful, loving, and is now reigning. This is the best part of the Gospel. Ang tanong, nagpapasakop ba tayo sa Haring ito? Repent and believe the good news!
