Welcome to our new series na kailangan nating lahat ― tayo man mismo ang wasak ang puso, o may kakilala tayong brokenhearted. Let our devotional remind us today that “God Heals the Brokenhearted.”

“Mapalad ang mga nagdadalamhati, sapagkat aaliwin sila ng Diyos.”

Mateo 5:4

The one who promised to love you forever confessed, “I’m sorry but there is someone else.” Your boss, who had been hinting that you could be promoted soon, told you, “The company decided to hire from outside for the position.” After months of tests and hospital visits, all the doctors could say was, “There is nothing we can do.”

At that moment, your heart broke into a thousand pieces. Saan — o kanino — ka pupunta?

There are places that we have to visit alone, and the valley of pain is one of them. Even if our family and friends are by our side, their presence can only go so far. This is where Jesus, the Man of sorrows, can come in. God made flesh walked on earth and felt both physical and emotional pain. He Himself experienced what it meant to be betrayed. One of His disciples, Judas, sold Him for 30 pieces of silver. At the Garden of Gethsemane, He was in agony over the suffering and death that awaited Him.

In His Sermon at the Mount, He calls those whose hearts are broken blessed. For those who turn to God, He said, that they will be comforted. It’s not the kind of comfort that will stay for a moment and leave the next day. Instead, it’s the supernatural, indescribable kind that will linger longer than pain will.
