Alam ba ninyo kung sino ang pinaglilingkuran ng mga mahusay magtrabaho?  Sila’y naglilingkod sa mga hari, hindi sa mga alipin.

How do we look at work? Ito ay source ng ating livelihood. Mula sa suweldo natin nakakapagbayad tayo ng bills para sa ating basic needs — food, shelter, and clothing. Work is also an avenue to express our talents and giftings.

Pero alam mo ba na may spiritual dimension din ang trabaho? Work can be your worship to God. Kapag ginagawa mo ang iyong trabaho nang mabuti, ito ay nagiging sweet aroma sa ating Diyos. 

Bago Siya naglunsad ng Kanyang ministry, si Jesus ay naging karpintero. While the Bible doesn’t explicitly mention anything about it, we can assume that He made good, sturdy tables and chairs. ’Di na Niya kailangang lagyan pa ng verses ang mga ito. Basta maganda at matibay ang Kanyang mga ginagawa.

When you do your work well — whether as a homemaker, teacher, nurse, engineer, factory worker, or OFW — it becomes part of your personal worship to God. Whatever your work is, you should do your best. All of us should aim for excellence. If we have that kind of perspective, then our work becomes a form of worship to God.

In addition, our work is also our witness. If you do your work well, your colleagues will respect you more. Just think about it. If you do mediocre work or if you are often late sa pagpasok, how will people respond positively to you if you invite them to join a Bible study?

Our work becomes a platform where we can gain a hearing. If we do our work well, we earn the right to be heard. Mas madaling mag–witness sa mga katrabaho kapag nakikita nilang mahusay ka sa iyong trabaho. May kredibilidad ka. Lalapitan ka rin nila kapag may mabigat silang problema. Hihingan ka nila ng prayers o advice dahilmaaasahan ka.  

So how is the quality of your work? May what you do every day bring glory to God and bless others in many ways.
