Awit 92:12,14

Mahilig ka bang magbilang ng wrinkles? Fine lines begin to appear on a person’s face at the age of 25. And as one gets older, they become more visible. Growing old is inevitable and so are the signs that come with it gaya ng wrinkles, puting buhok, paglabo ng mata, at receding hairline. Instead, let us learn to embrace getting old and master how to age gracefully. After all, old age is a blessing from the Lord.

Aging is something that we should not be afraid of dahil kasama natin si Lord sa ating pagtanda. He promised, I will be your God throughout your lifetime ― until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you” (Isaiah 46:4, NLT). This gives us courage and comfort. Kahit na pala matanda na tayo, may magagawa pa rin tayo for God. The advancement of God’s kingdom never stops. The elderly among us can intercede, join mission trips, or even write a book on life’s lessons to be passed on to the younger generations. Moses and Aaron were in their 80s when they confronted Pharaoh with God’s orders to let the Israelites go (Exodus 7:6–9). Let us not lose our zeal for Christ just because we are old.

LET’S PRAY

Lord, at times I dread getting old. Help me to embrace and enjoy every season of my life. I commit all the remaining years of my life to You.

APPLICATION

Write down what you plan to do in your retirement years to help advance God’s Kingdom. If you are young, appreciate the elderly and share with them God’s promises for old people. Pray for them too.
