Welcome back to the last part of our series, “Lessons from Plants.”

Natutunan ko nang masiyahan, maging anuman ang aking kalagayan … Ang lahat ng ito’y magagawa ko dahil sa lakas na kaloob sa akin ni Cristo.

Mga Taga-Filipos 4:11b, 13

Ang pothos ay isang super adaptable plant. It’s a vine with heart-shaped leaves at humahaba nang hanggang 12 to 18 inches sa loob ng isang buwan. Puwede itong itanim sa lupa o ibabad lang sa tubig. It can tolerate various kinds of light, kaya puwede itong indoor o outdoor. Napakagandang tingnan ng pothos dahil bukod sa green, meron ding varieties na may white, yellow, or pale green striations. Super adaptable at maganda na, madali pa itong alagaan!

How we wish we could be like pothos! Marami kasing situations sa buhay na nagbabago, and we have to learn to adapt in order to survive. May trabaho tayo ngayon, pero tomorrow, we could lose our jobs. Sanay na tayo sa ating routine, then the next moment, something unexpected disrupts us. Some of us may hate surprises and interruptions, pero walang constant sa buhay.

Alam ito ni Apostle Paul at naranasan niya mismo ang mga pagbabago sa kanyang ministry kaya natuto siyang mag-adapt. Naranasan niyang maging kapos at ganoon din ang managana, ang maging busog at gutom, ang magkaroon ng napakakonti at mawalan (Mga Taga-Filipos 4:12). Sa lahat ng sitwasyong ito, natuto siyang makuntento dahil sa lakas na kaloob sa kanya ni Cristo. He believed that Christ would sustain him, and that God’s grace would always be sufficient to meet all his needs (2 Corinthians 12:9).

If you’re amazed at the ability of the pothos plant to adapt, you’ll also be amazed at what God can do in your life when you trust in Him. Anumang sitwasyon ang makaharap natin, we can survive and thrive because the Lord will sustain us. He’ll make us grow in our areas of weaknesses and strengthen us. He’ll make us super adaptable!
