Kaya nga, palagi kaming nagpapasalamat sa Diyos, sapagkat nang ipangaral namin sa inyo ang kanyang salita, hindi ninyo ito tinanggap mula sa tao, kundi bilang tunay na salita ng Diyos, at ang bisa nito’y nakikita sa buhay ninyo na mga sumasampalataya.

1 Mga Taga-Tesalonica 2:13  

God reveals Himself to us in many ways. Isa dito ay through what is called general revelation, tulad ng creation at ng sarili nating conscience. General, dahil nakikita ng lahat ang creation, at lahat ng tao ay may conscience. At ang isa naman ay through special revelation. Tinatawag itong “special” dahil specific ang message nito at may powerful effect sa mga nakakakita o nakakarinig nito.

Maraming examples ng special revelation sa Old Testament. God spoke to His chosen people through dreams, visions, angels, direct speech through the prophets, and miracles. Sa New Testament naman, si Jesus Christ ang greatest special revelation from God.

In His wisdom, minarapat ng Diyos na i-reveal din ang sarili Niya through the written word, namely the Scriptures or the Bible. Theologian and author Dr. Matthew Barrett writes, “Scripture is the written form of God’s special revelation for his people, both the Old and the New Testament, which provides them with an enduring, permanent witness through which the Spirit brings them into union with the resurrected and ascended Christ.” 

Ang Old Testament ang Bible na binasa ni Jesus and His disciples. It tells the story of how Yahweh created the world and human beings to rule the world with Him. Pero tinalikuran ng tao ang Diyos na lumikha sa kanya. Sa New Testament ni-reveal ang tanging paraan ng Diyos para makabalik sa Kanya ang mga tumalikod at nagkasala sa Kanya. Only through His Son Jesus that He sent to the world. The gospels and the letters in the New Testament were written so that “you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing in Him you may have life in his name” (John 20:31, ESV).
