It Takes a Village to Raise a Child
Sa bibig ng matuwid namumutawi’y karunungan; at sa labi nila’y pawang katarungan. Ang utos ng Diyos ang laman ng puso, sa utos na ito’y hindi lumalayo.
Awit 37:30–31
“It takes a village to raise a child” is an African proverb that means an entire community of people must interact with children for those children to grow in a safe and healthy environment.
Madalas na rin marinig ang kasabihang ito kapag napag-uusapan ang pagpapalaki sa mga anak. Totoo naman kasi! Kahit na parents ang may responsibility in raising a child, it’s still essential that the child is surrounded by good influences and wise people.
As parents, we can pick the ninongs and ninangs na puwedeng tumayong second parents ng ating mga anak. It is wise to choose people not primarily because they are financially capable, but because they are righteous people.
Godly wisdom comes from Christ-like people. In Psalm 37:30–31, it says na righteous people who obey God’s law utters wisdom and justice. They are the people who will give practical and godly advice to our children while they are growing up.
Bad company ruins good morals (1 Corinthians 15:33). Kung exposed ang mga anak natin sa mga taong violent, argumentative, and judgmental, chances are lalaki rin silang mahilig sa gulo. It is better to surround them with positive influences and people with dreams and goals in life.
Christ-like people guide others away from sin (Proverbs 12:26). Makakaasa tayo na hindi ililigaw ng mga matutuwid na tao ang ating mga anak. They will not tolerate sin but instead, lead them closer to Christ.
Yes, the main responsibility still lies with the parents but choosing the support system for our children will be helpful in guiding them to discover what the Lord has in store for them. So, choose the members of your child’s village wisely.
LET’S PRAY
Dear Lord, thank You for the godly people You sent to me para makatulong sa pagpapalaki sa aking mga anak. I pray to be a responsible godparent, too, sa aking mga inaanak. I pray that You will lead my child to more Christ-like people in the future. Help me bring the next generation closer to You.
APPLICATION
You can show your appreciation to your child’s ninong and ninang by sending them a heartfelt “thank you” message.
