Abiding in God’s Presence
Salmo 91:1–2 ASND
In the 2015 film, The War Room, we find a story of the transformation of a family through the power of prayer. The central character, Miss Clara, introduced the concept of a war room, a quiet, secluded place where she prays for her family and loved ones. When she encountered a workaholic realtor named Elizabeth, she passed on the significance of using the same prayer strategy for Elizabeth’s struggling marriage.
Just like this movie’s story, where the breakthrough for the character came from persistent, fervent prayer, we are also called to fight our battles in the secret place. The psalmist through Psalm 91:1–2 reminds us that when we choose to stay, linger, and be still before God, we are covered by His protection, guided by His wisdom, and strengthened by His power.
It is in this secret place that we rise above the mere-praying level and be in an intimate relationship with the Lord that genuinely changes our lives. There, we pour our hearts, bring our requests, and receive His peace and perspective. Here, we learn to trust Him as a refuge and a fortress, being confident that He is with us in each trial and the storm.
LET’S PRAY
Lord, teach me to dwell in Your presence that I may find rest in You. May I learn to fight my battles on my knees, trusting that as I draw closer to You, I will find the strength to keep going on and to enjoy the fullness of life that comes from abiding in You amidst any challenges. In Jesus’ name, amen.
