When you think of the word “helpless,” who comes to your mind? Do you see a little child? Tama nga naman because none of us, after being born, was already capable of feeding and taking care of himself.
Kids know na hindi sila makaka-survive on their own, so they ask for help: to tie their shoelaces, para makabili ng damit, to have something to eat, para magkaroon ng kinakailangan nilang gamit, and so on. They have no ego to protect so they don’t mind being thought of as weak. They make no apologies for their dependence on you.
Growing up, kids lose this sense of neediness and become proud adults. Grown-ups start believing na kaya nilang makipagbuno sa mundo on their own strength. Many people start thinking, “Alam ko na ang lahat na kailangang malaman.” One day, a person wakes up not needing anybody, kasama na dito si God.
Because children can show us what it means to need someone stronger, wiser, and bigger than us. Tulad ng mga bata, we have to be able to say, “I cannot do this on my own.”
Ikaw at ako ay may mabuti at mapagmahal na Diyos sa langit. Makakaasa ka na kapag ikaw ay kumakatok sa pinto, He will see a child needing help and let you in.
Make my heart like a child’s, Lord, as I fully depend on You. May I never think na kaya kong mabuhay nang wala Kayo.
Application: Are there young children in your life right now? Talk to them about Jesus and delight in them. Pray that they will grow up knowing the Lord. Include them in your Prayer List.
