Sinalubong ni Cornelio si Pedro, nagpatirapa sa harap nito at sinamba. Ngunit sinabi ni Pedro, “Tumayo kayo, ako’y tao ring tulad ninyo.”

Mga Gawa 10:25–26

Cornelius, a Roman military leader, was instructed by God in a dream to look for Peter. Nang magkita sila, lumuhod si Cornelius sa harapan ni Peter in worship. Pero ipinagbawal ito ni Peter dahil tao lamang siya. Nagkakasala, nanghihina, nangangailangan ng kaligtasan tulad ng lahat. Alam niyang ang pagsamba ay nakalaan para sa Panginoon lamang at wala nang iba. “To Him be ALL glory, honor and praise.” Walang ka-share ang Diyos.

In the New Testament, ang daming accounts kung saan may lumuhod sa paanan ni Jesus: napaluhod ang isang demon-possessed man nang makita Siya; Jairus, one of the synagogue leaders whose daughter was ill, fell at His feet; the bleeding woman who was healed did the same thing; nang mamatay si Lazarus, Mary also knelt at His feet, and Jesus did not stop them. Even the wise men who visited Him as a child worshiped Him (Matthew 2:11). At balang araw, sabi sa Philippians 2:10, “Every knee will bow” before Him.

We are created to worship. Pero kailangan din nating maalala na who or what we worship affects our thoughts, our choices, and our lives. We are designed to worship and find fulfillment in our Creator alone. Unfortunately, nadi-distract tayo, and we end up worshiping other people or things. When we worship wealth, we court evil and compromise because “the love of money is the root of all evil.” When we worship famous people, we are influenced not only by their good traits but also by their misdeeds. When we worship ourselves, we are devastated when we fail. 

We are called to worship our Maker, and put Him first. For when we find fulfillment in Him, we experience His very best for us.
