Welcome, friends, to our series “The Lord is My Shepherd”. Have you realized how much loving and caring Jesus, our Shepherd, is? Hindi lang iyan; He’s also protective and generous as we will discover today.

Ipinaghahanda mo ako ng salu-salo, na nakikita pa nitong mga kalaban ko; sa aking ulo langis ay ibinubuhos, sa aking saro, pagpapala’y lubus-lubos.

Awit 23:5

Has anyone prepared a special meal for you? Has there been somebody who planned a party on your behalf? Ano ang naramdaman mo? Siguradong you realized how special you are to this person, right? For someone to invest time, effort, and money to give you a treat is something to be grateful for. Not to mention, to be proud of.

What more if this party is being witnessed by those who dislike you. Chances are you’ll be posting about this on your IG or FB account. Lalo na ngayon na common practice na we post almost everything that happens to us on social media. Hashtag bragging rights ba kamo? Hashtag flex ko lang? It’s only human to feel happy because we have something to brag about ― either because something special happened to us or something was given to us.

But come to think of it, every blessing that you receive is a treat from the Lord. Si Lord mismo ang naghahanda ng “special dinner” para sa iyo. Whether it’s a buffet in an expensive hotel or a simple but satisfying snack; a complimentary stay in a presidential suite or accommodation in a budget hotel, isipin mo na si Lord ang naghanda nito para sa iyo for your enjoyment.

Ayon pa sa verse 5b, “sa aking ulo langis ay ibinubuhos, sa aking saro, pagpapala’y lubus-lubos.” Hindi natatapos ang biyaya ng Panginoon sa pagpapakain sa atin, kundi may mga karagdagang pagpapala pa! In biblical times, ang pagbubuhos ng langis sa ulo ay isang expression indicating abundance. Kaya sino ba naman ang hindi mae-excite sa “pagpapalang lubus-lubos?” Siguradong siksik, liglig, nag-uumapaw at hindi kayang mawari ng ating isipan kapag si Lord ang naghanda ng mga pagpapalang ito!
