‘Di Man Lang Nag-Thank You
May blessing ka bang na-receive lately? Nagpasalamat ka na ba? Let today’s last part of the series “Gratitude to God in All Circumstances” remind us kung kanino tayo higit dapat na magpasalamat.
“Hindi ba’t sampu ang aking pinagaling at nilinis?” tanong ni Jesus. “Nasaan ang siyam? Wala bang nagbalik upang magpuri sa Diyos kundi ang dayuhang ito?”
Lucas 17:17–18
“Lord, pangatlong take ko na ito ng bar exam. Sana makapasa na ako,” this was Lynette’s prayer. Every day since she started reviewing again, panay ang dasal niya. So when she finally saw her name among the bar passers, napatalon siya sa tuwa.
Tinawagan niya ang parents niya. Tinext ang mga kaibigan niya. Pinost niya ang good news bilang Facebook status niya. Pero sa gitna ng sobrang tuwa, may hindi siya nagawa. She forgot to pause and say thanks to God.
Her experience is not unique. Sa sampung may leprosy na pinagaling ni Jesus, isa lang ang bumalik at nagpasalamat. Jesus said, “Didn’t I heal ten men? Where are the other nine?” (Luke 17:17, NLT). What could have Jesus felt then? Could He have been slightly annoyed, mildly angry, or deeply hurt? Put yourself in His shoes. Ano ba ang nararamdaman natin kapag may ginawa tayong big favor for another person na hindi man lang nagpasalamat?
Sadly, many of us are prone to acting like Lynette and the nine healed lepers. We knock on God’s door, He lets us in and gives us what we want, and then we rush out of the door without even looking back to acknowledge the Giver.
Lynette eventually realized her oversight. The night before her oath-taking, she spent time with God — with no distractions — and really prayed. Binalikan niya ang hirap na pinagdaanan niya at nagpasalamat sa Diyos for sustaining her, not just with strength and wisdom, but with hope. Today, she is practicing her law profession while giving God the glory. She has become the one leper who returned to thank God.
Thank you sa inyong walang sawang pagsama sa amin as we look into God’s Word for direction and encouragement. Join us again tomorrow for another inspiring message from the Word of God!
LET’S PRAY
Dear Jesus, I’m sorry for the many times when I have failed to thank You. Open my eyes, Lord, to see all the goodness that You are showing me. Amen.
APPLICATION
Notice the big and small blessings that you receive from God. Nakapagbayad ka ng renta on time? Thank God for giving you the ability to earn money and pay your bills. May kaibigan kang tumawag para lang mangamusta? Thank God for the gift of friendship. Before you know it, thanking God will be a habit.
