Digital Noise vs. God’s Voice
Madaling-araw pa’y bumangon na si Jesus at nagpunta sa isang lugar kung saan maaari siyang manalanging mag-isa.
Marcos 1:35
Naka-set ang alarm ni Tofy at 7:30 and 7:45 a.m. Pagkatapos maka-two times na snooze, bumangon na siya at nag-stretch-stretch. Pero imbes na tumayo mula sa kama, naisip niyang silipin ang notifs ng cellphone niya. There were 8 messages in his GC, one from Viber, and 6 from his IG. His inbox also had 3 new emails and a notif that his fave vloggers have new posts in their Youtube and Tiktok accounts. Naisip niyang i-track din ang status ng mga inorder niya online to see if out for delivery na ba ang mga ito. Just when he was about to get out of bed, narinig niya ang kulog. So he decided to check Accuweather para maplano na rin ang OOTD niya. He went to Pinterest for outfit inspiration. Pero may reel suggestions ding binibigay si FB based sa browsing history niya — about his upcoming travel. Tapos nag-pop up pa ang promo ng airlines and hotel offers. So he checked out Skyscanner to compare ticket prices.
Sa dami nang ginawa niya, major fail tuloy ang intention niya to get up early dahil pagtingin niya uli sa relo, alas-diyes na! Now he has to rush dahil may appointment siya at 11 am! Nawalan na tuloy siya ng oras to make his bed, eat a proper breakfast, and spend time with God! All because of mindless scrolling, lack of discipline, and having no sense of priority.
Most of us, in one way or the other, are guilty of procrastination and giving in to distractions. We all need to be reminded to manage our time in a way that glorifies God and brings us closer to our goals. Sabi nga nila, “Ang pera puwedeng kitain uli. Pero ang oras, kapag tapos na, hindi mo na mababawi pa.”
LET’S PRAY
Dear Lord, please help me to be more conscientious in how I spend my time. Remind me to use it wisely.
APPLICATION
In our world of mindless scrolling, streaming and digital noise, what are the ways you mute the outside noise so you can hear God’s voice?
