Honor God with Your Body

Hindi ba ninyo alam na ang inyong katawan ay templo ng Espiritu Santo na nasa inyo at ipinagkaloob ng Diyos sa inyo? Hindi na ninyo pag-aari ang inyong katawan; sapagkat binili niya kayo sa isang halaga. Kaya’t gamitin ninyo ang inyong katawan upang maparangalan ang Diyos.

1 Mga Taga-Corinto 6:19–20

In the letter of the Apostle Paul to the believers in Corinth, he reminded them that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. But what does that mean?

Ang mga tumanggap kay Jesus as their Lord and Savior ay tumatanggap din sa Holy Spirit. Ang katawan ng believer ay hindi lamang basta “tahanan” na pinananatilian ng Holy Spirit, kundi ikinukumpara ito sa templo o lugar ng pagsamba. Therefore, ang reminder na ito ni Apostle Paul ay tratuhin natin ang ating katawan na lugar ng pagsamba sa Diyos. 

To glorify God by honoring our body is not just keeping it pure from sexual immorality. We also honor our body by keeping it physically healthy: By eating the right amount of food with the kind of nutrients our body needs; getting enough sleep to give our body time to rest and recover from stress; and doing daily physical activities that promote mobility and strength. One might say, “This is my body, I can do whatever I want.” But Scripture tells us, “Not everything is beneficial” (1 Corinthians 10:23). Our body is not our own as this was bought at a price — the blood of Jesus Christ. 

Our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. Kung ang bahay nga ay kailangang panatiliing malinis at maayos, paano pa kaya ang templo na lugar na pagsamba? Hindi lamang ito malinis at maayos kundi pleasing din para sa Panginoon. Malinis ito hindi lamang sa loob kundi pati na rin sa labas. Will you honor God with your body and commit to getting physically healthy from this day forward?

LET’S PRAY

Lord, please give me wisdom on how I can take care of my body. Help me to develop discipline and consistency in eating healthy, sleeping well, and exercising regularly. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Commit your plans to the Lord and ask Him to give you a reason to hope and persevere every day.
