Sa halip ay padaluyin ninyo ang katarungan, gaya ng isang ilog; gayundin ang katuwiran tulad ng isang di natutuyong batis.

Amos 5:24

Nag-log-in ka sa iyong social media account and you read about police brutality, corruption, human rights violation, abuse, and violence in your news feed.

Kung nakakaramdam ka ng frustration o galit, normal ‘yan. We feel strong empathy for the victims of injustice and mourn for the lives lost.

Maybe you are also asking God, “How do I respond to injustice?” Sagot ni prophet Amos, “Sa halip ay padaluyin ninyo ang katarungan, gaya ng isang ilog; gayundin ang katuwiran tulad ng isang di natutuyong batis.” Mabuti at makatarungan ang Panginoon. One day, He will set every wrong to right but until then, He calls us to stand up against every injustice. Hindi tayo mananahimik, padadaluyin natin ang katarungan.

Whenever we see injustice, we fight through faith and action. Pero paano?

First, we pray. Lumapit tayo sa Panginoon. Ipagdasal natin ang mga biktima ng karahasan, korapsyon, diskriminasyon, at iba’t ibang klase ng pang-aabuso. Pray for God’s comfort para sa pamilya ng mga namatayan. Pray for God’s protection for our kababayans who are on the streets protesting. Ipagdasal maging ang tagapag-pairal ng batas, at silang mga nakagawa ng masama dahil hindi tayo nakikipaglaban sa tao, kundi sa kadilimang umiiral sa mundo.

Then, we express God’s love and justice. Suportahan ang mga grupong nagsusulong ng hustisya o kumakalinga sa mga biktima. Maliban sa financial help, we can reach out to comfort and pray for people who experience injustice. Speak for those who cannot speak for themselves and seek justice for the oppressed without attacking other people.

When injustice happens, remember that vengeance belongs to God. Trust that He will mete out justice in His time and sovereign way. And while we wait in faith, we cooperate. Padaluyin natin ang hustisya sa pamamagitan ng panalangin at pagpapahayag ng pag-ibig at katarungan ng Panginoon.
