Like a Farmer
Take the case of a faithful Christian named Beth.
Her family and friends reach out to her when they need help — loans, favors, and other requests — and almost 100% of the time, she will say yes. But lately, napansin niya na hindi man lang makuhang magpasalamat ang tinulungan niya. This made her wonder if it’s worth being kind at all, especially when she feels that her kindness is being taken for granted.
The Apostle Paul reminded the Galatians to never tire of doing good. Day after day, he will show up and work on his farm sa ilalim ng sikat ng araw. In the same way, when we do good deeds, it’s like planting seeds. We might not see the results of our good deeds right away but in due time, we will. Iyong mga natulungan natin, mapapabuti ang buhay. Our act of kindness can inspire another person to do the same. And, ultimately, our reward will come from our Heavenly Father, who sees not just what our hands do but what moves our hearts. Remembering this will help change our attitude. Discouragement will turn to peace; and irritation will turn to inspiration to keep on being kind.
LET’S PRAY
Dear God, I’m sometimes disappointed when people take me for granted. Please change my heart so I will not look for their gratitude anymore but only seek after Your approval.
