Do you want to honor God? Today we start a series that will enlighten us on how we can honor God with our God-given resources. Welcome to our series “Honoring God with Your Money.”

Santiago 2:15–16

A pastor once shared that he and his wife did not have enough ingredients or money for both lunch and dinner one day, so they decided to have lunch and just skip dinner. However, one of the church members decided to drop by their humble home with some adobo. Praise God, instant dinner! The pastor shared this story happily and thanked the Lord for His providence.

Another Christian who heard his story said, “Na-bless ako sa kuwento niya, pero na-grieve din ako. Here was a pastor who served the church faithfully, yet his salary was  not enough for him and his wife to have three meals a day. Parang may hindi tama. May church members naman na may trabaho at nakakakuha ng suweldo. After asking a few questions, it came to light that most of their church members did not give to the church regularly. Nakakalungkot ito.”

Why is it important to give to God through a church or ministries? Because giving is a practical way of honoring God and the people who serve Him. James said, “Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,’ but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? (James 2:15–16, NIV). When we give to the church and to various ministries, we honor God by making sure that the physical needs of the church and ministry workers are met. Our pastor and other full-time workers can pay the necessary bills and have enough food to eat para maka-focus sila sa pagse-serve sa Panginoon. What we spend our money on shows what we value in life.

Join us again tomorrow for the continuation of our series “Honoring God with Your Money” and let us honor God together!
